There are pieces you buy for a room, and then there are pieces that carry something deeper — something you feel before you can explain it. The Caria Wooden Panel on Stand is one of those. Carved from solid teak wood and mounted on a slim iron base, this antique-style devotional panel depicts three standing figures in traditional Indian iconography, framed within a sculpted arch and crowned with an ornamental fleur finial.

The surface tells you immediately that this piece has presence. Deep, dark tones of aged teak — almost umber — with traces of the original patina still clinging to the grooves and folds of the carved robes. The figures stand in calm, upright postures, the central one holding a staff or weapon, flanked by two attendant figures. Below the carved scene, a pair of incised cross motifs frame a small square opening — likely a functional element from the panel's original architectural life, now preserved as part of its story.

Nothing about the Caria has been over-restored or polished clean. The nicks, the darkened surface, the faint remnants of old colour — they're all still there, and they should be. That's what gives this piece its gravity. The slim black iron base keeps things steady and modern, grounding the whole composition with just the right amount of contrast.

Place it in a pooja room, on a console in the living room, on a study shelf, or on a side table where it can sit quietly and be appreciated up close. The Caria isn't loud. It doesn't need to be.
