Strip away the paint, the colour, the ornamentation, and what remains is the wood itself. The Alek Wooden Window is proof that teak, left honest, needs nothing else.
Recovered from a traditional Indian dwelling, the Alek presents a tall, clean-lined double-shutter form in warm, sun-aged teak. No lacquer, no pigment, just the raw timber speaking in its own golden-amber tone. The cusped arch header carries delicate floral carvings along its lintel, flanked by sculpted corbel brackets that curve downward with a quiet, almost protective grace. Below, each shutter is divided into raised panels, crisp and geometric, with a pair of hand-forged iron ring pulls sitting at dead centre, inviting you to reach out and open.
The proportions are generous. Tall and narrow, the Alek leans comfortably against a wall in an open-plan living area, a studio, or a loft bedroom, standing on its own integrated base without needing any mounting. It reads equally well in a minimalist Scandinavian setting as it does in a layered, bohemian space. The simplicity of its finish makes it a chameleon, absorbing the mood of whatever surrounds it.
This piece exists exactly once. The knots, grain variations, and hairline surface cracks you notice are the fingerprints of its age, each one consistent with Artisans Rose's quality and cosmetic standards for naturally finished heritage pieces.
