In a Warm, Mellow Embrace; Rustic Decor ideas
As technology powers on and opens new frontiers in our lives, including smart devices to control our houses, many of us cherish coming home to a warm, mellow embrace of simplicity, organic aesthetics, solidity and rustic charm. The Yin balances the Yang for a more wholesome life.
The Magic of Gifting
“When we give cheerfully and accept gratefully, everyone is blessed.” Mary Angelou
As we go to press, the country is witnessing a gifting deluge, after the flooding deluge in Kerala – funds and essential supplies are pouring in from all corners of the country. Such empathy and magnanimity on the part of our countrymen and foreign nationals reassures us that humanity is alive and kicking and delivers a kick-on-the-rear to those who spread poison with their polarizing and communal cries.
The gifting season in India beckons with a trio of festivals this week and weekend: Bakr-Id (22 August), Onam (25 August) and Raksha Bandhan (26 August)!
Bakr-id symbolized by sacrifice and Muslims commemorate it with a symbolic sacrifice of a halal domestic animal; families dress in their finest, offer prayers, exchange wishes and gifts, before sitting down for a royal repast.

Yes! It’s that time of the year, after the rains have refreshed the landscape, when the date with India’s ‘tryst with destiny’ beckons, and all citizens, young and old remember the heroes (sung and unsung) of Indian Independence and celebrate and showcase the colours of the Indian Flag. Institutions, Corporations, Academic Centres, Hotels and Restaurants commemorate this special day with competitions, events and food festivals.

So what would you look for when choosing a set of dining chairs?
Character and comfort go together and should be the # 1 consideration. Irrespective of which style you lean towards, the size of the table and the chairs should ensure ease of use and comfort. Optimum comfort is ensured when the dining chair seat is 22X24 inches, don’t
Portable Poufs & On-the-go Ottomans
Perk up and oxygenate your home with the most versatile décor accent – the Ottoman or the Pouf. In contemporary times, both mean the same thing and can be used interchangeably.
Now why did we term this décor item ‘versatile’? Because it serves BOTH form and function. Let’s look at some instances of how using an ottoman or pouf can enhance your home’s ambience, in more ways than one!
Footrest: Sounds banal? One of the original uses of the pouf was a rest to put up the weary feet. The cushiony surface, tufted, plain, twined, offer simple, irresistible comfort.
Drawing Room Seating: Used as standalone or extra seating, ottomans are a versatile prop in your living room. Position a long tufted ottoman (see picture on the blog) opposite your main sofa in a similar or contrasting colour palette and see it add texture to your space; alternatively dock a couple of square or round ones under the
