Once upon a time, in the heart of the great financial capital of India, Bombay-Mumbai, lived a young girl who dreamt of artistic living spaces; the dreams rescinded as reality rode in, in the form of a Hotel Management course and eventually, a career in hospitality in Mumbai with manic work hours and travelling time. The dream remained a castle in the air.

The universe, however, was listening.

This young lady, now a mother of two, had moved to Jodhpur with her husband who worked in an iconic luxury hotel. Prior to setting up her home, she spent a lot of time in the hotel, and was awed by the artefacts and décor – especially the vintage and reclaimed furniture – that was so beautifully, artistically and appealingly showcased. The not-so-ancient urge and love for interiors was rekindled and Roma Butalia Suri set out on a mission to discover the talented artisans who had crafted such beautiful and eclectic pieces. Jodhpur, she realized, wasn’t just a destination for palaces, forts and food!

Roma soon discovered that the city was home to artisans highly skilled in creating a wide variety of handmade decor and furniture products at reasonable prices and top-notch quality, the kind that was not even available in a cosmopolitan city like Mumbai. This gap had to be bridged. The discerning buyer must have access to this treasure trove of superior quality, elegantly-designed, fabulously-finished furniture and décor pieces.

And Artisans Rose was born. The name is a tribute to the mesmerizingly-talented artisans who literally ‘rose’ to the occasion, and what is more befitting than the eternal flower – ‘rose’ to convey respect and love?

Work, however was far from rose-tinted. Motivating artisans to work on samples, vis a vis bulk orders that they received from large export houses, and deliver on time, with impeccable quality, called for tapping into additional resources in terms of money, time, energy, patience and talk.

A slow and steady start with orders from family, friends and acquaintances soon flourished into an online presence in 2015, with gratified customers, ordering more and even asking for customized pieces, especially furniture. This led to the bespoke section, and commercial orders commenced and kept Artisans Rose beautifully busy, as the brand was now a triad of home décor, readymade furniture and customized furniture.

Since its start in 2015, the brand has come a long way in establishing a near-perfect experience for customers, from design to delivery of the products across the country.  Our artisans are happy with the increase in orders, trust our judgement and are pro-active in experimenting with new styles.
