As the days become shorter, and twilight tiptoes in earlier, illumination, whether iridescent or incandescent, spreads its light inside and outside of homes and institutions.
Just as lighting options have moved from heavy-duty power consuming bulbs and tubes to LED and halogen, so have the light/lamp cases/shades/holders, from traditional textile, metal and glass to a host of modern, contemporary, and ecofriendly repertoire.

Pendant lights are decorative light covers which are suspended from the ceiling by rods or chains. They can be used anywhere, from washing light over a big area like or stair with a welcome glow, or focusing on a family photo on the living room sideboard, or even over the dining table.
Pendant shades come in a variety of material – glass, metal, plastic, fabric, wood, bamboo, shell, paper, crystal, ceramic. The material, however, must be conducive to the environment. Glass is a traditional, timeless and elegant choice for indoors – the foyer or the living room. Metal is naturally sturdier and depending on the style, can be fitted outdoors and indoors in the study/dining/kitchen area. Plastic can be considered for durability and easy maintenance for outdoor fixtures. Fabric is an all-time favourite, especially for softer glows, ideal in a bedroom or lounge. For light, cosy illumination, paper shades are ethereal.
Enhance the rustic quotient with a bamboo or wooden shade, which highlights the earthy appeal. If you live on a coast and want to bring in the ocean, opt for seashell shades which amp up the freshness quotient of the overall ambience.
